![]() ![]() ![]() In a third-class lever, the input force is in between the output force and the fulcrum. An example of this class of lever is a baseball bat. The fulcrum is the wheel, the load of stuff in the wheel barrow requires the output force to be lifted, and the person at the handle supplies the input force. An example of a second class lever is a wheelbarrow. ![]() There are three main classes of levers. If the fulcrum is in the between the output force and input force as in the seesaw, it is a first-class lever. In a second-class lever, the output force is in between the fulcrum and the input force. The fulcrum is in the middle, and when you push down on your side of the seesaw (input), it makes the person on the other side of the seesaw go up (output). The classic example of a lever is a seesaw. Input, the force you put in, directed into an output force. The Third class levers: In the third class levers, the effort force is between the resistance force and the fulcrum.Įxamples of third-class levers: The Hockey bat, The manual broom, the tweezers, the fishing tool (the fishing hook), the ice or the sweet holder, and the cool tongs (the cool holder).A lever is a type of simple machine where a rigid arm is arranged around a fixed point or fulcrum. The bottle opener and the nutcracker are from the second class levers The Second class levers: In the second class levers, the resistance force is between the effort force and the fulcrum.Įxamples of the second class levers: The bottle opener, the stapler, the wheelbarrow and the Nutcracker. The hammer claw and the scissors are from the first-class leversĮach of the scissors, the pincer, the pliers and the nail clipper are composed of two first-class levers. In first-class levers, the fulcrum is between the effort force and the resistance.Įxamples of first-class levers: The pincer, the pliers, the paddle, the scissors, the seesaw, the crowbar, the hammer claw, the suction, the pump, the nail clipper and the balance. ![]()
